7.30pm August Concert - Augmented 4th

Augmented 4th is a lively new vocal quintet based in London.  The group which was formed last year is led and managed by Martha Woodhams, who is also the group's first soprano.  They gave their debut concert at St Nicolas in December last year to much acclaim.  All group members are current or previous members of King's College Chapel Choir, one of the finest university choirs in Britain.  They have all performed interrnationally and regularly sing at top london venues. Augmented 4th enjoy performing in a wide range of vocal styles and genres.  They regularly broadcast on the BBC and have individually made a number of professional recordings, the most recent being a recoring of the Brahms "German Requiem", the first time it has been recording in a rare version accompanied by two pianos.

Saurday 9 September
Open Church & Heritage Day - 10.00am to 4.00pm

A great opportunity to see and enjoy not only the history that surrounds you at St Nicolas’ Church but also a day of heritage related activities for the family to share together as well as detailed history trails and competitions.

This year you will notice also the scaffolding that will be covering part of the south side of the roof as the Horsham stones are removed and the supporting timberwork repaired. Horsham stones are quite rare and importantly it is good to be able to reuse them.

Full details will appear shortly but meanwhile please note the date in your diary.

Saturday 23 September
7.30pm September Concert - Surrey Brass Ensemble

Surrey Brass was founded in 2001 by John Goodwin and aims to develop the fine tradition of ensemble brass performance originated by the internationally famed Philip Jones Brass Ensemble, by widening the audience for brass ensemble music, enlarging the repertoire, and providing enjoyment for everyone.

They play a wide, innovative and entertaining repertoire to a high standard, incorporating fresh influences from diverse musical sources including Classical, Jazz, Film and World Music.  Their talented musicians are some of the best in the county and they are particularly keen to encourage young brass players.  Every year they perform at least one concert involving them.  Hopefully some will join us in future.
